Jack Warren Cottrell
April 30, 1938 – September 16, 2022

Jack Warren Cottrell, Lawrenceburg IN, went to be with the Lord on September 16, 2022. Jack was born on April 30, 1938 in Minorsville, Kentucky, the son of Major and Jewell Mitchell Cottrell. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Barbara Gordin Cottrell; son Dr. Russell Cottrell (Dr. Maria), daughters Cathleen Cottrell and Susan Meyer (Lester); grandchildren Nicholas Meyer, Gabriel Cottrell (Chie), Esequiel Cottrell, and Brooke Meyer Scott (Caleb); great-grandsons Grayson Scott and Teo Cottrell; sister Pat Adams, Brother Don Cottrell, and niece Donna Adams.

Jack, an avid University of Kentucky basketball fan, graduated from Stamping Ground (KY) High School in 1955. He then earned degrees from The Cincinnati Bible Seminary (A.B., 1959), University of Cincinnati (A.B., 1962), Westminster Theological Seminary (M.Div., 1965), and Princeton Theological Seminary (Ph.D., 1971). During his college years, he also ministered to churches in Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.

Jack taught in the graduate school of Cincinnati Christian University for 49 years while holding weekend ministries, speaking at colleges and on foreign mission fields, including Canada, The Philippines, Egypt, Brazil, Mexico, and Venezuela. Jack is the author of 43 books, of which many have been translated into 15 languages. He authored countless articles and consulted on other scholarly works, including the book of Romans for the English Standard Version (2001) of the Holy Bible.

Visitation will be held Monday, September 26, 2022, from 5-9 pm at the Bright Christian Church (24457 State Line Road, Lawrenceburg, IN). A Celebration of Life service will be Tuesday, September 27, 2022, at 11 am at the Bright Christian Church, with visitation beginning at 9 am until the service begins.
