WHAT WILL BE OUR ACTIVITIES IN HEAVEN? — 3 Comments

  1. I would agree that the odds of “intelligent” life, and even less likely, “spiritual life” on other worlds is most unlikely (SETI been listening to the Sounds of Silence” (apologies to Simon and Garfunkel)for forty years.

Even should life – physical and\or spiritual be found elsewhere in the universe, any such finding has little or no bearing on the revelation of God to the peoples of earth.

  2. I teach an adult ss class in Florida.I’m teaching about eternity and serving God in it. In Rev.22:3 it says His servants shall serve Him, some of my students asked a question about [How?]and asked if it could possibly be on other planets with so many stars possibly having solar system life maybe like ours.I have thought that might be possible to, could you give me your opinion? please thank you in Him, Charles Resseguie

    • First, the Greek word for “serve” here is “latreuo,” which does not mean general service, but worship. The ESV translates it, “his servants will worship him.” Second, the idea that some other stars my have inhabited planets has no basis in Scripture or in science itself. Third, remember that God promises a “new heavens and a new earth” (2 Peter 3:13; Rev. 21:1). A new “heavens” refers to a new universe. We do not know what such a new universe might include, but that leaves us open to speculate and dream about the possibilities. Maybe in that new universe there will be oodles of space with double-oodles of planet-like objects to be explored throughout eternity. Whatever there may be, I seriously doubt that there will be any other personal creatures whom we might meet out there and with whom we might communicate.
