THE DOCTRINAL FOUNDATIONS OF CBS — 10 Comments

  1. Dr. Cottrell –

I am sorry to see you retire from the school but happy that you will have more time for family and hopefully to write and speak more. I have heard you speak before and have read several of your books and always learn new things. Thanks for this blog as it helps keep me up to date.

I too have been very concerned about the continual drift away from conservative doctrine at colleges and in churches. Some things being taught today are unscriptural and some border in heresy. Keep speaking and writing the truth; hopefully the right people will hear it.

    Blessings,

    dave

  2. Dr. Cottrell,

I took Campbell Debates with R. C. Foster in about 1968. I remember his stirring account of the events leading up to the founding of CBS. We were assigned sections of various Campbell Debates to review in class, but R. C. interjected personal anecdotes relating to his involvement in raising the alarm concerning the defection of many of our brotherhood schools. I very much appreciate your paper.

  3. Thank you, Bro. Cottrell! You have summed up what I have been feeling for quite some time. God’s blessings upon you for your defense of the faith!

  4. Dr. Cottrell, I have just finished your paper and it is excellent., I too do not soft petal things when I am speaking of the Scriptures. After all Jesus did not so who are we that we should do any differently. If you would not prefer to use face book then reply on my email. I have noticed a change from the time that I attended CBS but did not know just how much. Please give me the specifics.

  5. I appreciate both the spirit and substance of this address, Brother Jack. CBS was my father’s alma mater and even though he is no longer with us I know he would give you a hearty “Amen!” (as do I).

  6. Dr Cottrell I am glad you found the paper and put it here for us to see. I fear we are losing both pillars in some of our churches and schools today, also for fear of offending those who have come to our schools and churches from denominational churches.

    • Thank you, Bro. Neyhart, for your comments. I share your concerns, but Matt. 16:18 will prevail!
