Is Sound Doctrine a Moral Obligation? (Part One) — 3 Comments

  1. My guess is that the person means doctrinally sound, i.e., that the assent aspect of his faith is correct; but he has not surrendered himself to Jesus as Savior and Lord and thus does not have the necessary trust aspect of faith. I.e., it does not matter if you believe all the doctrine is TRUE, if you have not obeyed the gospel and become a Christian. I agree with this. (So I think you have misinterpreted the phrase “doctrinally right.” It does not include obedience.)

  2. Recently, i came across an article on discipleship where the writer stated we can be “doctrinally right but spiritually dead.” By saying “right” it infers that the person did obey what the Word of God commanded. To follow it up with “spiritually dead” is a non sequitor then in my opinion. May i know your thoughts on this Brother Jack?
