Books that Have Influenced Me

Some recently asked me this question: Would you mind sharing some of the books, besides the Bible, that helped to shape your views and understanding of the Bible? Also, who are the contemporary authors which continue to influence you?
I thought I would share my (amplified) answer with everyone: “This is always a hard question for me to answer since the list is shorter than it seems it should be: Martin Luther (on grace and salvation issues); B. B. Warfield (for his meticulousness in Biblical interpretation); J. W. McGarvey (my favorite RM author); John Murray (my theology teacher at Westminster Seminary, but watch for his Calvinism); Carl F. H. Henry, for his ability to analyze false theologies; Elton Trueblood’s General Philosophy, chs 1-6, on epistemology; Leon Morris (“my favorite theologian”–esp. The Apostolic Preaching of the Cross); Phil Yancey; Wayne Grudem on feminism issues; William Craig on apologetics. The main book, tho, is still the Bible. The books I have within arm’s length of my writing area are lots of Bible versions and Greek reference tools, plus copies of my own books!!
