“CONSCIENTIOUS RESPONSE TO AVAILABLE LIGHT” — 6 Comments

  1. Teaching “available light” seems to cause confusion; perhaps you would do well to find another pastime. After all those supposedly lacking light don’t hear since they lack light, and those with light have no reason to entertain an end-run around the simplicity of the gospel.

    We should just preach the gospel and just trust Him to be just with His judgments. It is senseless to speculate about the judgment of children, the mentally challenged, and other situations of which He has not spoken.

    In Romans 5:12-21 Paul explains how the whole would became guilty because of Adams transgression. The knowledge of good and evil showed Adam and Eve their need of clothing and the same knowledge convicted the world of it’s less than stellar behavior. Once this knowledge was made available to the world via Adam the entire world was accountable.

    Rom 5:12 because of this, even as through one man the sin did enter into the world, and through the sin the death; and thus to all men the death did pass through, for that all did sin;
    Rom 5:13 for till law sin was in the world: and sin is not reckoned when there is not law;
    Rom 5:14 but the death did reign from Adam till Moses, even upon those not having sinned in the likeness of Adam’s transgression, who is a type of him who is coming.

    Romans 4:15 says nothing about an individual’s acceptance or rejection of law. It merely states the fact that transgression can’t occur if law does not exist. The position you present seems labored, and I am therefore not surprised that people frequently assume you seek an exception to the gospel.
    Rom 4:15 for the law doth work wrath; for where law is not, neither is transgression.

  2. Also, I guess there are many bretheren like me who are not into Facebook and are able to access your teachings via jackcottrell.com and preaching via YouTube. Unfortunately, YouTube carries only one uploaded video (Cadiz Christian Church) where you exhorted the Body of Christ to “TRUTHTIFY” the Word of God! I wish many of the Churches you were able to speak to can upload the videos if they ever did. L

  3. Brother Jack, does Matthew 24:14 nullify the CRAL principle in the sense that by the time the end of the world comes, the gospel is preached to all nations and the LIGHT is made AVAILABLE to all?

    • Assuming your question is serious, the answer would be no, since Jesus did not say the gospel is preached to all INDIVIDUALS, but to all NATIONS.

      • Thank you for responding to my (yes, it is a serious one) question on CRAL in light of Matt 24:14, Brother Jack. It is enlightening to note the distinction between INDIVIDUALS and NATIONS. I’ll look for a copy of your book on Baotism: A Biblical Study here in the Philippines.
