WHEN WERE THE APOSTLES BAPTIZED? — 3 Comments

  1. Praise the Lord, for the Lord is good and his goodness endure for ever amen:Mine opinion concerning the topic of,WHEN WERE THE APOSTLES BAPTIZED,.The apostles were surely baptized by JESUS himself because if you read from John chapter 3 verses 22 – 26,its reads After this Jesus and his disciples went out into Judean countryside, where he spent some time with them and baptized.(even though if Jesus was going to baptized some people at all he will make sure that he baptized the Apostles first and that was what he did,He baptized them.)verse 23:Now John also was baptizing at Aenon near Salim ,because there was plenty of water, and people were coming and being baptized.24(This was before John was put in prison)25:An argument developed between some of John’s disciples and a certain Jew over the matter of ceremonial washing.26:They came to John and said to him,Rabbi, that man who was with you on the other side of the Jordan – the one you testified about –look,he is baptizing and everyone is going to him”.(These proves that the disciples were baptized Hallelujah.

    • First, this is pure speculation, since it not specifically mentioned in the text in John. Second, even if Jesus did baptize them, this would be equivalent to John’s Baptism, and would be irrelevant once Pentecost came. There was NO actual CHRISTIAN baptism prior to Pentecost as recorded in Acts 2. Anyone who had been baptized earlier by John, (speculating) by Jesus, or by Jesus’s apostles HAD TO BE BAPTIZED AGAIN ON PENTECOST OR AFTER. When Peter addressed his audience on that day, he said, “Repent and be baptized, EVERY ONE OF YOU, in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” One of the BIG NEW aspects of Christian baptism is the gift of the Spirit. And the Spirit had not been poured out for this purpose until Acts 2:1ff. See Acts 2:33. That is one reason Peter said — “EVERY ONE OF YOU.” Many in his audience had no doubt been baptized by John. Peter is making sure that no one would say, “I don’t need your Christian baptism; I’ve already been baptized.” NO! Not with Christian baptism, you haven’t! And do not say that Jesus baptizing someone would be different. That still is not consistent with the Holy Spirit not being poured out until Pentecost. See John 7:37-39.
