YOUR WORST ENEMY: DEATH — 6 Comments

  1. Thanks for this message.. I’ll use this as my reference for my next preaching.. God bless sir.

  2. I am using your book, The Faith Once for All, to lead a discussion on death in Sunday school. Great material. You point out that the body without soul is dead. In the death ‘process,’ when does the soul leave the body? How does that relate to life extending technology, pulling the plug, end of life planning? Your thoughts greatly appreciated.

    • As to when the soul leaves the body, the Bible does not go into this kind of detail, so we can only speculate. My best guess is that what the Bible calls “death” occurs at what the doctors call “brain death,” i.e., when the brain ceases to work. My approach to the other questions is basically this: as long as there is hope of recovery, all available means of prolonging life should be used. When death is near, and there is no longer any hope of recovery, it is no longer necessary to use artificial means to keep the person alive. Only the normal means of life need to be continued, i.e., air, food, and water.

  3. Thanks Brother Cottrell, for the message. At one point in my life I was terrified of dying. But lately I am looking forward to going home to be with my Lord.
