Is the Human Soul Inherently Eternal? — 6 Comments

  1. “Now to Him who is Eternal, Immortal, and Invisible – the only true God be Glory and Honor forever, amen.” Indeed, it seems we are temporary, mortal and quite visible however. “When we see Christ we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is”….This is the Christian’s hope, is it not? (This brings up a question. Are we then capable of sinning once again?) My bigger question however, is this. What is the point of an eternal state (for those who choose to not accept Christ) of some existence in a tormented, conscious state of being? I’m not saying they would not have a soul after death at all, they certainly do. However, with the scriptural idea given of a second death meted out upon Judgement day, would it not be, and I hate to use the word ‘annihilation’, (and it may be the same thing), but basically a state of non being? Death of the soul also if you will? One thing we probably all agree on is the idea of separation from God is what hell is. *On a lighter note, I thought Alexander Campbell was a saint, not to be tampered with, lol.

  2. So, are you basically making the distinction that the soul lives on forever because God wants it to, and not because it has to?

  3. I thank God for your work, It never ceases to amaze me that when I am reading some thing that I don’t understand or I have no one to turn to, you make a comment in the upcoming weeks.
    God bless.
